Live jazz at KURA
Sake & Jazz · Vol. 9

Studio Ghibli Live Jazz Lunch

This is not a concert with lunch. It is not lunch with background music.

One day only, KURA presents the ninth edition of its Sake & Jazz series — a chef-led lunch designed to be listened to.

Drawing from Japanese listening-bar culture, the room is structured around attention and flow. Live jazz, fire-driven cooking, and guided sake are developed together and experienced as a single, continuous program.

Miso-marinated cod

The Lunch

The menu is built for precision, timing, and control. Guests will be served 3-day miso-marinated cod, cooked slowly over woodfire, with miso soup and seasonal Japanese accompaniments.

This is focused cooking by design — allowing temperature, texture, and pacing to be managed without compromise. Each dish is fully realised, confident in its own right, and served in dialogue with the music and sake.

Sake pairing

The Sake

Sake pairing is led by Kana Aoyama of Sake Journey, developed specifically for this menu and performance.

Each pour is selected in response to the cooking and the music, with brief context offered at the table. The pairing exists only for this service and will not be repeated.

The Music

Studio Ghibli compositions are reinterpreted through a contemporary jazz lens, performed live for the room.

The performance is present but controlled — designed to hold attention without overpowering service or conversation. Volume, pacing, and dynamics are shaped for the space.

Nana Koizumi

Nana Koizumi
